Where: AberdeenshireThe original station at Inverurie was south of the current station. It had an island platform for the Aberdeen bound trains and Inverury and Old Meldrum Junction Railway branch. The branch platform terminated with a turntable and was also a loop back onto the main line. The main station building was on the northbound platform with another on the island platform, which was accessed by footbridge.
The goods yard was on the west side. In addition to a goods shed and loading bank there were turnplates for accessing further sidings to the west.
The line between Kintore [1st] and Inveramsay was doubled in 1882. A signal box opened in 1882 at the station. This was on the east side to the south of the station platforms with the turntable immediately to the north.
The station was replaced by Inverurie in 1902 with the opening of the Inverurie Works.
The signal box was renamed 'Inverurie Old Sidings' and reduced to a ground frame in 1902 (with the opening of 'Inverurie New Station' at the new station).
The box closed in 1903.
The railway was singled between Dyce and Inverurie in 1969.
The line has been restored to double track (2019).
Nothing remains of the passenger station or goods station. The goods area is now housing.
