Description

This was the junction between the Slamannan Railway of 1840 and the North Monkland Railway of 1878, a partly independent line of North British Railway origins.

This was a double track junction as both single track lines doubled before the junction and there was a loop running east from the junction. At the start of the branch there was a further loop, just after the junction. The signal box, opened with the North Monkland Railway, was on the north side of the junction.

To the west of the junction the 'main line' dropped to a single track. Just to the west of this was the start of a double track section which ran west to Longrigg Siding (controlled by Limerigg Signal Box).

To the south was a loop siding for the Lodge Colliery Pit No 1. This was closed by 1910.

The signal box closed in 1921. The formation still exists, despite closure of the branch in 1921 and the main line in 1949.
