Also known as Workington Haematite Iron Works. This was located on the west side of the Whitehaven Junction Railway just north of Lonsdale Dock and the River Derwent. Despite the name, this was principally an iron works.
The works was chiefly served by the Whitehaven Junction Railway with sidings running from the north into the works. A siding continued south to Lonsdale Dock and sidings ran west to dump slag on the foreshore.
St Helens Colliery No 3 was to open to the north, the coke ovens specifically, and the Cleator and Workington Railway's Lonsdale Dock branch was to run down the west side of the works. Across the Whitehaven line was the West Cumberland Heamatite Works.
The site was cleared after closure.
