Passenger service starts between Pontypool Road and Penmaen Halt and Oakdale Halt via Penar Junction. Rhiw-Syr-Dafdd signalbox to Colliers Arms doubled.

Penar Junction to Hall's Road Junction re-opened to allow closure of southern portion of the Sirhowy Tramroad. Markham Colliery traffic diverted over re-opened line rather than via the Tredegar Junction and lower section of the Sirhowy line.
