Name and dates

Pitpointie Siding

Opened on the Dundee and Newtyle Railway.

Description

This siding was on the south side of the line and approached from the east and had a loading bank on its south side. It was on the east side of Pitpointie Farm.

The siding may have been one of the loops originally on the line when operated by horses, before locomotive use.

It is located a little west of Balbeuchley Top, the upper (and north) end of the Balbeuchley Incline.

The site of the siding is now amongst the farm buildings.

Stone for the railway was quarried at Pitpointie.
