Name and dates

Rosehall South Junction (-1945)

Opened on the Glasgow, Bothwell, Hamilton and Coatbridge Railway.

Description

At this junction the line south to Bothwell Junction and west to Rosehall Colliery met and ran north to Whifflet Central Junction.

On the Rosehall line was an exchange yard. This served colliery pits nos 7 and 13. There was a tip on the east side of the Bothwell line around 1910-1920.

The Rosehall spur connected to the old Rosehall Railway which had opened in connection with the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway.

The signal box here was called Rosehall South. To the north was North Rosehall Junction and another signal box. This also provided access to the Rosehall Colliery.

The box closed in 1943 and the line was closed in 1945.
