Description

This harbour was developed by Sir Robert Cunninghame of Auchenharvie in 1684. It was to be used for exporting coal to Ireland. Cunninghame had developed coal pits at Stevenston.

This was the terminus of the Ardrossan Waggonway and earlier canal.

The harbour was rebuilt in 1914.
