Slochd Viaduct (1897-)Opened on the Inverness and Aviemore Direct Railway (Highland Railway).
Description
This is an eight arch masonry viaduct carrying a single track and south of Slochd Summit. The viaduct is quite wide, possibly intended to allow doubling. Also known as Slochd Mhuic Viaduct, the line passes over the wooded course of the Allt Slochd Mhuic.
The viaduct is quite tall, crossing the ground 109 ft below. It is around 400 ft long.

West of Druimuachdar Summit are two striking hills, An Torc (the Boar of Badenoch) and, to its south, Meall an Dobharchain (the Sow of Atholl). The profiles resemble hogbacks. |
