Description

The slipway of the repair part of this shipyard remains on the Forth and Clyde Canal on the south bank of the canal, just east of the entry into Kirkintilloch Basin. The shipbuilding part of the yard were also to the east on the south bank closer to Townhead. The repair yard was rail served from the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway's basin sidings.

The shipyard closed in 1954 but the slip remained in use for the ship repairs business until 1961.

The basin was filled in. A new basin has been formed here and the slip restored and covered over.
