Redevelopment of Haltwhistle Station waiting rooms continues [Community Rail Network]

Coming towards the end of May, TVCRP is almost there with the platform 2 building. Baseplate, corner posts, floor and external walls have been repaired or replaced as necessary. The structure was built in 1907 with external walls made of wood with wood cladding on the inside.

The Alston bay at Haltwhistle looking east towards the signalbox in February 2013. The trackbed now forms an unofficial footpath around the back of the station. My last visit to Haltwhistle was in 1976 when I caught a train from this platform shortly before the Alston branch closed. On the other side of the still used waiting room is the Carlisle platform. See image [[40173]] for an earlier view of this spot.
