There it was put into store in June 1967 and officially withdrawn on 2nd December that year. Rescued from Woodham's scrapyard at Barry by the Midland Railway Trust, Butterley in 1972, a full restoration did not begin until 1993 and it was not until 22nd February 2004 that the locomotive was steamed again. 4/41

06/09/2014
David Bosher

Chester

Chester and Crewe Railway

67023 just arrived at Chester station with UK Railtours' excursion from Peterborough, on the afternoon of Saturday, 21st March 2015. Arrival was just after 07.10 in plenty of time for the 07.47 departure on Saturday, 4th May 2019. This was an unusual choice of starting point for a tour heading north, crossing the Thames twice within 10 minutes and creeping round Longhedge and Latchmere Junctions to gain the London Overground West London Line to Willesden Junction. It then took the LO North London Line to Gospel Oak and the GOBLIN to just east of Crouch Hill before traversing the spur up to the ECML at Harringay that is not normally used by passenger trains.
