Platforms 1-6 have been realigned and extended northwards towards the tunnel and the track relaid, but pointwork has yet to be replaced. Platform 7 still has its old track and remains connected to the down line in the tunnel. New rails have been placed in the 'four foot' of the adjacent platform 6 road. Platform edges are nearing completion and the infill will follow. Some slabtrack for the tunnel works is stored in the station. The engineering train with the ballast waggons on the old platform 7 road has just arrived. Meanwhile in the brilliant spring sunshine, work continues on platform reconstruction.
