Introduction

This was a single track line running from Gilling to Mill Lane Junction, Pickering. Land for two tracks was taken and many structures built to accommodate a second track if the line were to be doubled.

Opened from Gilling to Helmsley, with stations at Nunnington and Helmsley.

Extended from Helmsley to Kirby Moorside. Stations opened at Nawton and Kirby Moorside.
  /  /1875Gilling to Pickering Line (North Eastern Railway)
Extended from Kirby Moorside to Mill Lane Junction, Pickering. Station opened at Sinnington.
  /  /1948Gilling to Pickering Line (North Eastern Railway)
Kirby Moorside renamed Kirbymoorside.
  /  /1953Pilmoor to Malton Line (York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway)
Husthwaite Gate, Coxwold, Gilling closed to passengers (along with Gilling to Pickering Line (North Eastern Railway)).

Closed to passengers (Nunnington, Helmsley, Nawton, Kirbymoorside, Sinnington closed). Closed completely from Kirkbymoorside (excluded) to Mill Lane Junction (excluded).
