Introduction

This private mineral railway ran from Niddrie Yard and served Woolmet Colliery, various Niddrie mines and Newcraighall Colliery. The main portion ran in a generally southern direction from Niddrie parallel to the Edinburgh and Dalkeith Railway. It is completely closed.
