WD Austerity 2-8-0 no 90645, one of 733 such freight locomotives taken over by BR from the Ministry of Supply in 1948, stands outside the former L&Y eight road straight shed that was 56A, Wakefield, in 1966. The locomotive was withdrawn in January 1967, the same month that saw official closure of 56A. No 90645 was cut up at Wards, Killamarsh, 3 months later while the former Wakefield shed was put to use as a wagon repair depot until the late 1980s following which it was eventually demolished.
