Preston Ladywell Sidings

Shortly after being reinstated for Departmental use, Class 40 No. D212/40012 Aureol, renumbered as 97407, sits in Ladywell sidings, Preston alongside an unidentified Class 47. These sidings, to the north east of the station, were swept away when Preston's ring road was extended and a hotel now occupies this spot. Ladywell House, the BR office block behind, was built on the filled in section of the Lancaster Canal but has also since been demolished. 40012 was subsequently preserved at the Midland Railway Centre, Butterley.
