The old bridge on the eastern edge of Airdrie carrying Towers Road over the trackbed. The bridge, seen here looking south east on 28 August 2009, has been closed for some time in connection with work on the Airdrie - Bathgate project, with its replacement due to open in June 2010. The metal barrier on the extreme right of the photograph is part of the perimeter fence around an electricity sub station that now stands on the spot once occupied by the eastbound platform building of Clarkston (Lanark) station, closed in 1956.
