At the time of writing (December 2009) the 1847 building at Burntisland is undergoing sympathetic renovation by Historic Scotland as business premises. This was the terminus for trains to the north in the period before the Forth Bridge opened in 1890 when Burntisland became a through station on a different alignment. The traces of the hipped roof above the one-time buffer stops are obvious and I hope will not be 'renovated away'. Estate agents eventually gave up trying to let the former platform building on the right (most recently [but that's relative] a railwaymen's social club) and bricked up the windows, but at least it's still there.
