Hindley

BR Standard class 5 no 73069 with the LCGB Two Cities Limited at Hindley North on 23 June 1968. Unlike other stations on this route, which have been left with island platforms, both lines in the picture have been lifted and trains now use those out of sight to the right. Hindley station, first opened in 1848, was renamed Hindley North in 1950 but has long since reverted to its original name.
