Edinburgh Waverley
A3 Pacific 60093 Coronach about to enter the Calton Tunnel on 12 August 1961 with the 10.05 up Waverley for London St Pancras. The first stop will be Galashiels in 53 minutes time. Nowadays (February 2010), the 10.05 X95 bus from nearby Waterloo Place, will reach Gala in 1 hour 15 minutes - how's that for half a century of progress! When the line is re-opened to Tweedbank (5 minutes beyond Galashiels), there will be a maximum 55 minute journey time to the terminus, including eight intermediate stops.
