The crumbling remains of Bowes station looking west towards Stainmore Summit on a wet and windswept 20 March 2010. The old station stands on what is now farm land, near the junction of the A66 and A67, with a section of the trackbed to the west of this point now forming part of the Trans-Pennine trunk route. Given the weather in this part of the world it can only be a matter of time before the remaining standing sections of the old building collapse completely.
