Edinburgh Princes Street

Standing on the east side of Gardner's Crescent looking along the Caledonian trackbed in 1972 see image 29568. Directly behind the camera was the site of the original Lothian Road station (1848), with the later Princes Street station (1870) built alongside and to the north. By this time all track had been lifted and the area cleared, with thoughts starting to turn to the possibility of converting the old trackbed into a road...
