Dalry Middle Junction

Standard tank 80060 heads north across Dalry Road at Dalry Middle Junction with the 11.40am Edinburgh Princes Street to Stirling train on Saturday 29th February 1964, the last day of passenger services between Dalry Junction and Haymarket West Junction. On Monday 2nd March Stirling trains switched to Waverley as the first step towards closure of Princes Street station. Dalry Middle box, which controlled the junction to Granton and Leith North, remained operational for just one more week, at which point all the lines it controlled were closed completely. The solum of the line here is now occupied by the West Approach Road, with buses rather than trains crossing the bridge see image 7436.
