Dalry Middle Junction

This junction was just to the west of Dalry Road station and was where the link to Haymarket West Junction parted from the Caledonian's Leith North line. The box, on an embankment, closed in 1964 and when it was demolished the brickwork below track level was left intact. There it remains, seen on 19 January. In 1974 the trackbed became the West Approach Road and far more people pass here daily than they ever did in rail days.
