Grantshouse

Mishap at Grantshouse. On 8 August 1961 EE Type 4 no D249 failed to stop after being routed into the up loop at Grantshouse, with the inevitable result shown here. The locomotive carried the scars for many years, including a different coloured front end. This may also have been the last occasion on which ECML trains were diverted via Kelso to Tweedmouth. Taken on 9 August, the day after the mishap.
