On the left is the former coast route to Scarborough while running off to the right is the steeply graded (1 in 50) connection down to Bog Hall Junction and Whitby Town station. The Whitby Town - West Cliff - Scarborough service had been withdrawn more than six years earlier in March 1965. See image 28894
