170s off the north end of Kirkcaldy station, one in the siding and the other on the Up line, on Sunday 6 March. The siding is not normally used on a Sunday as there are no terminating trains, but a special timetable was in place for engineering work diversions. Note the painting of Bennochy Road overbridge. There was a fad in the 1980s for painting such bridges with geometric shapes. To today's eyes it has the effect of drawing attention to something humdrum without making it attractive. How tastes change.
