View towards Lancaster along the Glasson Dock branch cycleway, alongside the River Lune, near the site of the private halt for Ashton Hall. Contrary to appearances this route is nowadays very busy with cyclists and walkers and undoubtedly carries far more traffic than it ever did when the rails were down. See image 33042 for the sparse passenger service in 1915. By the time of full closure in 1964 the branch goods was running as required which in practice meant no more than weekly.
