View south west at Rosslyn Castle towards Penicuik in the spring of 2013. The turn off ahead to the right led to a goods yard and loading bank, now part of a picnic site. The yard once provided warehousing and trans-shipment facilities for the nearby Hay Merrick (later Curtis and Harvey) explosives works. The works finally closed in 1954 (by then part of ICI's Nobel Division). The Penicuik branch lost its passenger service in 1951 and closed completely in 1967. See image 42338
