Hythe Pier's Class 91? The pier electric loco is always coupled at the landward end and so has a large windscreen when being driven See image 47707 but just this small one facing the train. The loco propels the train along the 700yd, 2' gauge track to Hythe Pier Head every thirty minutes before hauling it back. The two locos were built as battery electrics by Brush for the Avonmouth Mustard Gas Factory in 1917 but purchased by Hythe Pier in 1922, converted to 250v DC third rail operation and have worked here ever since.
