This is a postcard view of the 'Total Destruction of Victoria Mills, Galashiels, June 26th 1905.' Of interest in the foreground is, on the left, the water tank, the nearby shed having opened only two years before. Next to the right is Galashiels Central signalbox (which along with Kilnknowe Junction, Galashiels North, Galashiels South and Selkirk Junction was replaced by a new box using colour lights signalling at the north end of the station in 1937, works beginning in 1935). Next to the right is the overall trainshed which covered the station platforms but was removed in 1938 when the road bridge crossing the station was replaced with a new one on an oblique. Closer to the viewpoint are the sidings on the east side of the station. Postcard in my collection.
