Hooton

Once a busy station on the four track main line to Birkenhead Woodside, Hooton later went into decline. However electrification in 1985, subsequently extended to Chester and Ellesmere Port has brought a revival and there are now six trains an hour direct to Liverpool for most of the day. The siding in the foreground however, used for a period by the Helsby DMU shuttle, is now redundant as the EMUs call at the other platforms but the station building is still staffed and in good repair.
