Arniston Colliery Emily Pit

The once intensely mined area to the north of Gorebridge has undergone considerable change since closure of the last pits. Various reminders of its industrial past still remain however, this one a legacy of the Emily Pit; a 'burning bing' situated to the east of the embankment that once carried the mineral line south from Engine Road to reach the Gore Pit and the exchange sidings.
