Burnton Loop
A trainload of coal from Pennyvenie pauses at the west end of the loop between Minnivey and Dunaskin Washery in March 1972. The locomotive is NCB West Ayr Area No 24 (AB 2335/1953), fitted with Giesl ejector. On the right is the tail end of a rake of empties waiting to complete the return journey. The various angles of the waggons suggests this section was anything but a smooth ride.
