Recently I was speaking with Kenneth Gray, he expressed surprise at a street in Hawick - Back Railway. I decided to investigate this long-gone street. From the book by W S Robson published 1947: 'BACK RAILWAY (MANSFIELD) After a railway siding now dismantled.'
Now known as Mansfield Square/Mansfield Park the siding would be down the street - to presumably supply coal to Riversdale Mills or to Eastfield Mills.
