Queen Elizabeth II Bridge

A 4-car Metro unit heads south over the Queen Elizabeth II bridge crossing the Tyne on 26th June 2017. The slight arc of the cantilevered Metro bridge allows a glimpse of a Virgin ECML train on the King Edward VII bridge behind. The bright blue paintwork of the bridge recreates the colour of the old Redheugh road bridge, replaced in the 1980s by a modern concrete structure, the pillars of which can be seen beyond the rail bridge.
