Opened by the Edinburgh and Northern Railway in 1847, Springfield serves a village with a population of less than 1,000. Located between Cupar and Ladybank, the station currently (2017) sees 3 northbound and 2 southbound stopping trains on weekdays, with no service on Sundays.
