Southport Lord Street

The Cheshire Lines station in Southport had a frontage onto the main shopping street, Lord Street. The clocktower has the letters SCLER carved beneath the clock referring to the Southport and Cheshire Lines Extension Railway. Entrance to the station was through the arch at the bottom of the tower however since the station closed in 1952 the platform area was filled in and used as a bus station. Today the arch leads to a national supermarket chain and the building is in use for various commercial purposes.
