Preesall
A post-1950 (full closure) image at the site of Preesall station, looking towards Knott End. The Knott End Railway had originally planned a level crossing at this point, in line with most other road crossings on the line, but the authorities insisted on this expensive bridge which added considerably to the construction costs. The embankments still stand today but the bridge has been removed and the gap infilled.
