Israel Railway Museum

It is a sad fact that all Israel Railways main line steam locomotives were scrapped and not a single one preserved. The tender of Palestine Railways P Class 4-6-0 No. 62 (scrapped 1960) has survived and a picture in the museum at Haifa shows what fine looking North British built locos they were. Now if the engineering geniuses at Darlington or Didcot were to put their minds to it? Alongside the tender is EMD G16 No. 163, a 1950hp Co-Co DE, built for Egyptian Railways in 1961 but captured in the 1967 Arab Israeli War and then used by Israel Railways on freights in the Negev Desert.
