Gainford Bridge

Just west of Gainford village there are two arched stone bridges crossing the upper reaches of the River Tees, in close proximity to each other as it winds it way to the east coast. These are on the former line between Darlngton and Barnard Castle. The easternmost bridge is Gainford Bridge with the westernmost one being West Tees Bridge. This view taken at the waters edge looking south in May 2019 shows two of the four arches of Gainford Bridge with the third arch mostly hidden by the low hanging tree branches.
