Littlewood Siding

The 1726 hrs (2F42) Preston to Ormskirk service approaches the site of Littlewood Siding in the early evening autumnal sun on 21 October 2019. Littlewood Siding was constructed for the Littlewood Brick and Tile Works next to the line with a signalbox controlling access. During WW2 the area to the east of the line became an ammunition and explosives storage facility with all the bunkers connected by a network of standard gauge lines, connected to the main line at Littlewood Siding. Photo taken from a point of safety at a public foot crossing.
