This siding was on the east side of the Liverpool, Ormskirk and Preston Railway (East Lancashire Railway). It was reached by reversal from the southbound line.
By reversal from the siding the Littlewood Brick and Tile Works was reached.
The works was between the former Croston (to the south) and Cocker Bar (north) stations.
There was a signal box on the west side of the line.
A government stores depot opened on the east side of the line, north of the former works.
The prisons HMP Garth and HMP Wymott are now east of the siding's site.
