A view of classic railway infrastructure at Brampton station on the East Suffolk line on 28th July 1984. Unfortunately, despite having survived against the odds for two decades after the Beeching Report listed the line for closure, time was finally running out for the gates, semaphores and box. The photo shows recent upgrading of the crossing surface, but only on the up side, revealing that singling of the line, automatic barriers and RETB working were imminent developments.
