Effective snow clearance at Bathgate on 14 December 2010, enabling unimpeded platform access to the 1341 service to Waverley. The appearance of a 158 came as something of a surprise, given the introduction of through electric services on the Edinburgh - Helensburgh route two days earlier, although recent conditions had resulted in emergency timetable alterations across the network. The prolonged period of bad weather had also delayed completion of new stations on the reopened line at at Armadale, Caldercruix and Drumgelloch.
