Skibbereen

The surviving engine house at Skibbereen, with water tank above, in May 2021. This now finds itself, perhaps appropriately, in the grounds of Skibbereen Fire Station. The main running line running north to Madore and Drimoleague passed to the left of the engine house, and the Skibbereen goods shed and station is south to the right. Given the engine house now only supports a water tank and is not long enough to contain an engine, it seems that it has been partly demolished and then consolidated. The stonework is consolidated with bricks at the rear which supports this and the low stone wall surrounding the apron in front of the fire station consists of stones which might previously have formed the rest of the engine house.
