Preston
Storm Dudley disruption. With delays and cancellations on the northern part of the WCML, on 17 February 2022, there were quite a few trains stranded at Preston resulting in Avanti services having to make use of platforms 1 & 2. The congestion was made even worse with platforms 5 & 6 and the U&D goods loop all blocked due to suspected damage to the roof, platform 4 with a TPE service from the north terminated and platform 3 with an Avanti Pendolino waiting with a northbound service. Even with the cancellations trains on all lines were backed up waiting to get in to Preston. In this view an Avanti Voyager to Blackpool on platform 1 makes an extended call, a Northern Class 150 departs with a service to Colne while the 1S45 Avanti Pendolino to Glasgow is going nowhere on platform 3.
