Edinburgh Waverley
Taxis no more. Scene on the south side of Waverley on 22 August 2014 with preparations underway for the construction of platforms 5 and 6. The Network Rail poster reads 'The taxi rank is closed. The nearest place to grab a cab is on Market Street or Waverley Bridge.' The project suffered various difficulties along the way (not least the failure of Carillion) and would not be completed for another four and a half years.
