A peep through the fence reveals the sole remaining building on the site of Kelty Gas Works. This works was served by sidings approached from the east and was on the north side of the mineral line which continued west to Blairenbathie. On the south side of the mineral line were the gasometers. Before the gasworks the northern site was Kelty Brickworks and Kelty Pit No 1 was to the south of the line - which was the western extent of the mineral line when first opened. The pits here predated the railways in the area.
