Manchester Central

An elevated view of Manchester Central in 2012. This opened in 1880 and closed as a passenger station in 1969, at the same time as Manchester Exchange. It was used for car parking for several years but gradually deteriorated before it was refurbished and reopened as the G-Mex exhibition and conference centre in 1986, later reverting back to the name Manchester Central. The Metrolink tramway can be seen climbing alongside the building to join the original CLC trackbed.
